ABOUT US.
The Power is in the Grip is a community-led initiative built from love, loss, and the belief that even in the darkest moments, connection can make a difference.

No one fights alone.
In 2016, Michael Brandwood died by suicide at the age of 27. In the years that followed, his mother, Lynn Brandwood, faced a grief and emptiness that reshaped her entire world.
For the past ten years, Lynn has worked hard to fill that emptiness with purpose. What began as a deeply personal way to cope, has grown into a movement designed to support suicide survivors, raise awareness about mental health, and remind those affected by suicide that no one stands alone.
Each year, a signature The Power is in the Grip event brings people together for a day that blends lighthearted moments with deeper meaning. While there is golf, games, and laughter, what truly defines the day are the connections made between people: shared stories, quiet understanding, and the comfort of being surrounded by others who “get it.”
This event is especially meaningful for those navigating life after the loss of someone to suicide. It creates space - not just to remember, but to feel supported, to talk (or not talk), and to be part of a community that understands.
All funds raised through The Power is in the Grip stay within Wellington County, directly supporting local individuals and families impacted by suicide. Contributions help fund programs, outreach efforts, and community-based initiatives that provide care, connection, and encouragement when it’s needed most.
The work is about creating an ongoing sense of connection and reminding people, again and again, that support exists and no one fights alone. 💛
